Rapid Relief: Era the Frenchie Healed with MLS® Laser Therapy

Submitted by

This case study focuses on a 5-year-old female French Bulldog named Era, who was suffering from external otitis, an inflammation of the ear canal. The dog’s symptoms included redness, crusting, and sores on her right ear, along with frequent head shaking and scratching. The case highlights a treatment plan that used only MLS® Laser Therapy. The therapy sessions were scheduled over 12 days, and the owner noticed a reduction in itching after the very first session. Although there was a brief period during which the redness worsened, the dog showed significant improvement after the third treatment, with all symptoms resolving completely within 12 days. The study concludes by demonstrating the successful use of laser therapy as a standalone treatment for Era’s condition.

Species: Dog | Breed: French Bulldog | Gender: Female | Age: 5 | Name:  Era

Clinical Case

Era was presented for examination due to a two-week history of head shaking, scratching her ears, and a red, crusty lesion on her right ear. A clinical examination confirmed the issue was external otitis. Although the dog had reddening and ulcerative lesions, a cytological examination of the ear was negative for any pathogenic microorganisms.

The treatment plan involved MLS Laser Therapy using an M-VET device. The therapy sessions used ‘atopic dermatitis’ and ‘wound’ programs. Era received four sessions over a two-week period: two sessions on consecutive days, followed by a session every other day, and a final session 12 days later. No other medications or topical treatments were used. The itching was noted to have improved after the very first session. The reddening of the ear initially worsened after the first two sessions but then completely resolved 12 days after the third session.
